Argumentative Essay

Breathalyzers Should be required in all cars

Did you know that there were 221,711 car accidents in Korea? This was in 2011, and 28,461 of the car accidents were caused by drunk driving. That's nearly 12.8% ! This is why breathalyzers should be required in all cars. Breathalyzers are a device for estimating the amount of alcohol in breath. If you put these breathalyzers in cars, the car will not start if you blow on it and you are drunk. However, your car would start if you blow on it and you're not drunk. Breathalyzers can decrease the amount of car accidents, breathalyzers are cheap these days and breathalyzers can prevent you from frauds.

First, breathalyzers can decrease the amount of car accidents. Did you know France is the

first country to require all drivers to carry handheld breathalyzers in all vehicles? This law extends to tourists as well. The law went into effect on July 1st and was approved in March 2011. According to "Dailytech.com" which was written by Shane McGlaun on 2012, July 2nd, France has about 4000 road deaths per year these days. However, before the law, there was an average amount of 16,000 road deaths annually. 75% has decreased, which is a huge amount. In summary, breathalyzers can decrease the number of car accidents so breathalyzers should be equipped in all cars.

Money icon      Second, breathalyzers are cheap these days. According to breathalyzer.com, the cheapest ones you can use forever is $97. The most expensive was$300, but it is not always necessary to buy the expensive ones. It's pretty cheap for something you can use permanently. In conclusion, breathalyzers are cheap these days so breathalyzers should be required in all cars.

Finally, breathalyzers can prevent you from frauds. If you have breathalyzers in your car and your car wouldn't start if you drink, you will probably stop drunk driving. However, without breathalyzers, the people who are drunk driving will increase. The people who are drunk are usually not normal so anyone could trick or fool them easily. According to a news article, there were people who were drunk and they got fooled easily. They lost a lot of money but couldn't report it to the police because they were drunk driving and could loose their license. In brief, breathalyzers should be required in all cars because they can prevent you from frauds.

The opposing side might say that some of the breathalyzers that are permanent are too expensive. However, your life is much more important than money. Without life, money would not be needed. Life is much more vital than money.

Also, the opposing side might argue that breathalyzers might not work because there was an article in 2011 about cars not moving even though the person who drank tried to drive after a while. However, technology has developed so nothing like that will happen again.

In conclusion, breathalyzers decrease the number of car accidents, they are cheap and they can prevent you from frauds so breathalyzers should be required in all cars.  Also, even though the opposing side might say that breathalyzers are too expensive and they are not trustworthy, your life is of prime importance and technology has developed. This is why Breathalyzers should definitely be required in all cars.
